To share the joyful atmosphere of the Chinese New Year with the world and to extend the warm welcome from Taipei City Government. The Taipei Lantern Festival will be displaying lanterns with cultural accent from different countries in front of the square of Taipei 101 building (close to Taipei world trade center exhibition Hall 3)for cultural exchange purpose as well to enhance the globalization of the Taipei International Lantern Festival. Current participator includes Macau, Malaysia and Philippines.

At the 2008 Taipei Lantern Festival, Tourism Malaysia wishes everyone in Taiwan a prosperous Year of the Mouse¡I To celebrate this golden time, Tourism Malaysia is bringing Taipei a large, colorful variety of lanterns, including Eye on Malaysia , Kuala Lumpur Tower , and Petronas Twin Tower . Visitors are invited to enjoy Kuala Lumpur 's spectacular nightscape with the adorable company of a family of mouse and hang-sliding mouse. Wandering the sea of lights in a festive mood, everybody is welcome to experience the charm of Malaysia with ¡§One Golden Celebration. ¡¨ The time is Now, The place is MALAYSIA.

At the 2008 Taipei Lantern Festival , the MGTO's main themes are World Heritage sites. The main lantern is the white Holy House of Mercy, which was established in 1569. The highly appropriately named building was built by the first Bishop of Macau for charitable missions. Five much smaller World Heritage sites are inserted in the two sides of the stand, including the Arabian-style Moorish Barracks, the Cathedral, the Holy House of Mercy itself, the Ruins of St. Paul's (a major Macau landmark) and the oldest lighthouse in the far east, the Guia Lighthouse. Each building shines with sequences of brilliant color, concealing images of many special elements of Macau, including World Heritage sites, and outstanding activities and events, to encourage visitors to experience Macau 's blend of Chinese and eastern cultures for themselves.
